John Milton’s pamphlet Areopagitica written against licensing and censorship in 1644. Special Collections copy is from 1738 demonstrating its continued importance nearly 100 years later (and still today).

Made a diagram two years ago about banned books for the worst art class ever. Seriously that class was a nightmare. All info given from ala.org.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Tom Sawyer’s Comrade) by Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens). First English Edition from 1884. It was released in England before it was released in the US in 1885.

Controversial from the very beginning, the book continues to be challenged or banned to this day.
